Takara Sake USA Inc. (Takara), the nation’s leading premium sake producer, and the New York Mets have teamed up to bring Japanese sake to fans at Citi Field in Queens, N.Y. The new partnership will see MIO Sparkling Sake, the bestselling sparkling sake in the world, as the first featured sake at the stadium.
“We are honored and excited to be the first official sake sponsor of the New York Mets, a storied franchise with a rich history in the vibrant Queens community,” said Yutaka Eto, Takara’s Vice President/Director of Sales and Marketing. “Baseball is a beloved pastime in both the U.S. and Japan, and our partnership with the New York Mets celebrates this shared tradition by introducing sake, the iconic Japanese beverage, at the world-class venue that is Citi Field.”
With the appeal of sake becoming increasingly global, MIO Sparkling Sake has attracted new fans to the category since it was developed by Sho Chiku Bai – Shirakabegura, Takara’s craft brewery in Nada, Japan. MIO’s modern, crowd-pleasing style makes it the ideal sake to introduce to Citi Field and its diverse culinary offerings, voted as the winner of the 2023 USA TODAY 10 Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest for Best Stadium Food.
MIO Sparkling Sake will be featured at the Piazza 31 Club, Hudson Whiskey NY Club, Pat LaFrieda’s Chop House, and Citi Field’s suites, providing guests a unique opportunity to enjoy sake while at the ballpark. Additionally, MIO will be showcased in digital ads throughout the concourse and stadium, and fans will have chances to sample it at tastings during select games. The New York Mets will also highlight MIO Sparkling Sake and Takara on Instagram.
