Zesty Mirin BBQ Sauce

Servings: 2 1/2 Cups



Takara Mirin1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons
tomato puree1 1/2 cup
molasses1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons
fresh, grated ginger1 teaspoon
garlic3 small coves
dijon mustard1 1/2 teaspoons
sea salt3/4 teaspoon
smoked paprika3/4 teaspoon
white pepper1/2 teaspoon
avocado or grape seed oil1 tablespoon



  1. Add all ingredients into a small bowl and whisk together until smooth.

  2. Pour mixture into a small saucepan and cook uncovered over medium low heat for 10 minutes. Sauce may thicken slightly.

  3. Enjoy as a dipping sauce or brush onto grilled chicken or sausages. Sauce will keep in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed container for one week.

Mirin and ginger give this barbecue sauce its exotic and bright flavors, while smoked paprika infuses this sauce with that familiar barbecue sauce flavor. Brush this sauce onto grilled chicken, sausage, meatballs, on top of meatloaf or roasted potatoes.
